KPL Week 9 LIVE: Mashemeji Derby, Preview, Team News, Tickets, TV and Standings

Week nine of Kenyan Premier League (KPL) is going down this weekend, and it’s expected to be lit, with all nine fixtures lined up.

Top on the cards is the traditional Mashemeji Derby pitting arch-rivals Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards in their 88th league meeting set for Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani on Sunday as from 3 pm.

Ahead of this much-anticipated game, K’Ogalo just crashed out of Caf Confederations Cup tourney and fell to Mathare United in their most recent local match. Ingwe fans are trolling their Green Army counterparts over the result but Gor Mahia are hopeful of a win when they meet on Sunday.

A day before the Mashemeji derby, three matches will be played including Posta Rangers vs Chemelil Sugar at Narok County Stadium as from 2 pm, KCB vs Tusker at Nakuru’s Afraha Stadium and Kisumu All Stars vs Kariobangi Sharks in Kisumu (Moi stadium).

On Sunday, the other five matches will be played at various venues with the match between Sony Sugar and Mathare United going first at Kericho Green Stadium at 12 pm.

Kakamega Homeboyz will then welcome Western Stima at Bukhungu Stadium at a time when Sofapaka will be battling it out with Wazito at Narok County stadium.

Ulinzi Stars will also play host to Bandari at Afraha stadium as Zoo look for victory against visiting Nzoia Sugar at Kericho Green Stadium.

All matches will be played starting 3 pm except Sony Sugar vs Mathare United and Posta Rangers vs Chemelil Sugar matches.

Ahead of the weekend fixtures, Tusker stands tall on the table with 16 points as Gor Mahia come second with 15 points. AFC Leopards and KCB are third and fourth respectively.

Kariobangi Sharks, Sony Sugar, Kisumu All Stars and Chemelil Sugar occupy the last positions with the latter being at the bedrock.
