Move to America

The Rimbuis welcomed their daughter at a hospital in Newark, New Jersey after moving to the U.S.A about 2 years ago.

He moved to New Jersey so that he could play Jazz in New York where there is great appreciation for his genre of music.

“Our move to America wasn’t planned. Safaricom Jazz Festival was instrumental to my move here. During the very first edition, Richard Bona who was the main artistes for the festival encouraged me to move to New York because it is the ‘haven’ for jazz music. So after some thought, we decided to move. And I worried that I would regret not taking the chance,” he told the Standard in a 2018 interview.

It was in New York that he became better at his craft because he met some amazing artistes and it challenged him to hone his craft in a big way. “We’ve been here for over a year now and I love it. The calibre of musicians playing here is amazing and intimidating. It makes me work harder and be better. I am happy.”
