Chelsea Willing to Let Experienced Duo Leave in January

Chelsea are open to letting striker Olivier Giroud and Spanish winger Pedro leave the club in January according to reports in the UK.

The two are no longer key players for the Frank Lampard coached side and the tactician is said to be willing to let them go should interested clubs table acceptable offers for the experienced pair.

The two were not part of Lampard’s squad that drew 4-4 with Ajax in a UEFA Champions League match played on Tuesday night further fuelling speculation that they are no longer in Lampard’s immediate and future plans as the tactician continues to rely on youngsters.

The two have six months left in their current contracts with the Blues and are free to negotiate with potential suitors for possible moves either in January or in the summer. Also edging towards the exit door is Spanish defender Marcos Alonso who was taken off at halftime during the game against Ajax.

Giroud a former Arsenal striker who joined Chelsea in January 2018 has started just one game for the Blues this season and is said to be angling for a move away in order to secure his place in France’s Euro 2020 squad. West Ham and Crystal Palace are said to be interested in his services.

Pedro has been touted to return to Spain. The decision to allow them to leave however will depend on the recovery of the currently injured players and the outcome of Chelsea’s transfer ban appeal.
