Sonko’s Aide Re-Arrested Minutes After Being Released

One of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s right hand man has allegedly been arrested for a second time, minutes after he was released.

Through a tweet, Secretary Digital, Innovations & Diaspora Communications, Dennis Itumbi, claimed that the individual, who is the governor’s communication officer, was apprehended after posting bail in court.

Itumbi disclosed that Richard Bosire and other officers working for the county boss were taken to KICC Police Station after the incident.

The digital strategist claimed that the harassment of the individuals was barbaric.

The journalist remarked that the lot was charged for allegedly creating disturbance and holding an illegal assembly.

The blogger declared that the DPP should intervene in the matter to bring a halt to such treatment.

The turn of events comes a day after chaos broke out at Integrity Center where Sonko had been summoned by the anti-corruption authority.

Things got thick after the controversial politician was denied access to the compound by officers manning the gate as he tried to drive in.

It was reported that the officers demanded that the once senator of the city to alight from his vehicle and walk in instead.

This condition did not go down well with his supporters who tried to force their way into the premises as a sign of discontent.

Police resulted to the use of teargas to disperse the crowd in order to restore order.

Amid, the fracas, the leader was overwhelmed with rage and was caught on camera slapping a KTN journalist, Collins Kweyu.

Once peace was restored, the Jubilee party member made his way to the building and later addressed the media after the meeting.

Embakasi East Babu Owino who was present during the briefing by Sonko, condemned the incident by the law enforcers pointing out that Sonko should be respected.

Babu claimed that a political witch hunt launched against his colleague was based on personal grudges by the government.

The lawmaker reiterated that the effectiveness of the duties done by the governor were affected with the ridiculous summons issued to the ex-senator.

“Sonko should not be treated like a village servant.  He is a leader who was elected by the people of Nairobi to serve the people,” Babu commented.

The incumbent county boss on his part stated that the EACC was using every means to ensure he is relieved of his duties.

Aside from the irritation of the body, the flashy Sonko will have more problems on his hands if found guilty as he could  be jailed for five years or a fine of Ksh 5 million or both.
