Arsenal will play Vitoria Guimaraes on matchday 4 in the UEFA Europa League on Wednesday knowing that a win would automatically earn them entry into the round of 32. The last time both teams met was on matchday 3 at the Emirates Stadium when two late freekicks earned Arsenal a 3-2 win.
Below, we look at how the Gunners could line up against the Portuguese side.
Defense
Emi Martinez has been the Cup keeper and will start yet again. Hector Bellerin has been unused in the league as he eases his way back into full match fitness and should start at right-back while Sead Kolasinac starts on the left.
Rob Holding is another who has barely played in the league and the center back should partner Shkodran Mustafi in central defense.
Midfield
Lucas Torreira has played in all matches in the Europa League and will most likely start at the base of midfield alongside young academy graduate Dani Ceballos.
Joe Willock has already scored a goal in the Europa League and will get the nod in the attacking midfielders position.
Attack
Nicholas Pepe has been an unused substitute in the past two matches for Arsenal and was the hero the last time the two sides met. The Ivorian will start on the right-hand side.
Meanwhile, Gabriele Martinelli has three goals in the Europa League this season and should start in the striker’s position while Emile Smith Rowe starts on the left-hand side for the Gunners.
Starting XI: Martinez, Bellerin, Kolasinac, Holding, Mustafi, Torreira, Ceballos, Willock, Pepe, Martinelli, Smith Rowe.
