Court Orders IEBC to Bow to ODM Demands

The high court has ordered IEBC to provide complete voters register to ODM Party in compliance with the constitution.

In a Wednesday afternoon ruling, high court judge John Makau compelled the electoral body to avail a complete register including Identification details of KibraVoters to the party.

However, the Commission challenged this ruling stating that they needed 7 days to compile and avail the required voter register yet the by-elections is only one day away.

The ODM Party had tabled a complaint on November 4, where they sued the electoral commission for failing to release a detailed voter register.

This win for the party comes after a long battle with the commission over the matter in conflict.

The complainant has had doubts about the independence and transparency of the commission accusing it of being manipulated by opponents in the Jubilee Party.

On Wednesday morning, ODM communications director Philip Etale hinted that jubilee affiliates bribed IEBC officials.

According to Etale, the said officials must have been instructed to do something fishy and silly during the November 7 by-Election.

It is a push and pull between the major opponents ( Imran Okoth and Mc Donald Mariga) with each camp accusing the other of mischief.

In a video posted on social media, Jubilee affiliated youths were seen burning tires and lamenting on what they termed as voter manipulation by ODMs Candidate, Imran Okoth.

They alleged that the candidate was going round donating Unga plus Ksh 1000 notes to Kibra voters on the night of Tuesday 5.
