High-Flying Eliud Kipchoge Celebrates Birthday in Style

On this day-November 5, about three decades ago, Eliud Kipchoge, the greatest athlete of the world was born.

Today, the father of three turns 35, and it’s come with massive blessings in form of achievements and awards.

Just two days ago, the man who recently became the first human being to complete a marathon race in under 2 hours, was accorded much respect in the New York City.

He was announced the winner by UK-based Abbott WMMajors on the sidelines of New York City Marathon.

“I am proud to receive the 12th WMMajors Male Champion award. What a fantastic day celebrating with this wonderful running community in NYC today!” he announced.

This recognition comes a few days after he was awarded the the Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart medal (EGH) by the Kenya President Uhuru Kenyatta during October Mashujaa Day celebrations in Mombasa.

“On this day we celebrate those who have built Kenya with their bravery, their sacrifice and their fidelity; we celebrate and honour those that go above and beyond the call of duty.”

“Today we honour the Kenyans called to serve around the world, our Kenyans in the diaspora who continue to be our brand ambassadors in countries far from their home and who continue to support millions of Kenyans in their homeland.”

“A shujaa is one who sacrifices greed, selfishness, personal comfort and advancement at the altar of the greater good,” President Kenyatta said at the time.

Apart from breaking the 2-hour barrier in marathon, Kipchoge is the Olympic Champion, Chicago Marathon Winner, three-time Berlin Marathon Winner, four-time London Marathon Winner and the World marathon record holder (2:01:39)

He’s also on the verge of winning the 2019 IAAF Male Athlete of Year award.
