Former England striker Darren Bent believes Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy is currently the best striker in the English Premier League.
The Foxes forward is currently the top scorer in the league with 10 goals. His sensational form has steered the club to the third position with last season’s contenders Liverpool and Man City the only teams above them.
Speaking about the former Three Lions’ striker’s form, Bent stated that he believes Leicester City number 9 is the best in the league at the moment. He believes having many creative players in the team is helping him flourish.
“He’s getting service from everywhere and I’ve played in teams where the service has been that good and all you’ve really got to concentrate on is putting the ball in the net and he’s doing that really, really well. I think right now he’s probably the best striker in the Premier League,” he stated.
Vardy guided City to the English Premier League title in 2016 when then-coach Claudio Ranieri beat the odds to win the title for the Foxes. According to bent, however, the striker is currently in a better form than he was in their title-winning season.
“I think he’s playing at an extremely high level, he’s probably playing better now and is more consistent than the year they won the title, he’s playing that well. He’s getting older, but he still seems to be getting better, he’s a top goal scorer in the Premier League already. He’s just going from strength to strength,” he added.
