2019 Census: Population Results for all the 47 Counties

The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) Monday released the official population figures for the Country, following a successful Census undertaking that ran from Aug. 24 to Aug. 28.

According to the data that was handed over to President Uhuru Kenyatta in an official televised ceremony, Kenya’s total population as at 2019 stands at 47, 564,296.

The Bureau further tabulated population by County, with Nairobi, Kiambu, Nakuru, Kakamega, and Bungoma Counties emerging the highest populated.

The statistics Body further broke the County figures down according to gender, including the newly introduced response option of intersex gender.

Detailed County population figures

While accepting the results from KNBS Director General Zachary Mwangi, President Uhuru Kenyatta described the successful completion of the enumeration exercise as a proud achievement of his Government, which fully funded the process.

He also noted that the activity had engaged youthful Kenyans by offering temporary employment.

The President also expressed his gratitude towards Kenyans who cooperated with enumerators to make the undertaking a success, as well as security officers who ensured safety during the exercise that at times took place during the wee hours of the night.

He also hailed local universities and the KBS for developing the devices and software used in the Census, which is the first ever to be conducted under the current Constitution.

He added that the data captured during the exercise will be used in economic planning and implementation of development programs across the country by the Government under the Big 4 Agenda.
