Ruto Dares ODM in Kibra Over Chaos on Voting Day

Deputy President William Ruto has dared the ODM party to stay away from chaos during the November 7 Kibra by-election.

While drumming up support for Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga at DC Grounds, Kibra, Nairobi County on Sunday, Ruto stated that the government was going to provide full security to ensure that no chaos will erupt during the voting process.

He warned those who were planning to use chaos to coerce voters to vote in particular candidates that the government was going to deal with them in a proper way.

“I want to assure you that the government will provide enough security and nobody will threaten you to vote in a particular way. Let those who always thrive in chaos be warned! We will not entertain any chaos in Kibra,” warned Ruto

He urged the residents to shun away from those who were calling for violence in Kibra and vote in focussed leaders who will help develop Kibra.

At the same time, Ruto urged Kibra voters to snatch the opportunity to redeem themselves from ODM slavery which he said had taken them for a ride for too long.

Ruto wondered why Raila had to run away from the opposition and join the government through the back door yet he was busy lying to the constituents that he was ‘taking them to Canaan’.

“He used a bridge called Handshake to get into government through the backdoor door. How will he handle your needs when he is running away from his own house,” posed Ruto

The self-proclaimed hustler, who was accompanied by a number of Jubilee leaders cited lack of employment opportunities in the constituency, poor infrastructure, sanitation and connection to electricity as the main reason why Kibra people should elect Mariga.

At the same time, the once vibrant Jubilee MP Aden Duale took the opportunity to launch fierce attacks on ODM party leader Raila Odinga.

While making reference to the presence of Kirinyaga, Machakos and Kitui county governors at Raila’s campaign in Kibra, Duale said it was now imminent why Raila was associating with governors who had been associated with graft claims in their counties.

He claimed that Raila was using the handshake to eat with the governors, questioning what had changed of Waiguru whom Raila had strongly accused of NYS stealing the NYS money.

Duale who had been criticised by some in the Jubilee government defended his support for the Building Bridges Initiative, BBI saying that he was supporting Uhuru’s BBI not Raila’s.

He termed equal distribution of leadership positions and allocation of resources as his main reason for the support of BBI. According to Duale, all communities should be included in the government without necessarily looking at their ethnic backgrounds.

He urged Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to stop hiding and join hands with other like-minded Kenyans in transforming the country.
