It Could Be, Arsenal Manager Hints at Naming New Captain

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has hinted that he could hand Pierre Emerick Aubameyang the captaincy permanently after leading the team for the first time against Wolves on Saturday.

The Gabon international skippered the Gunners in the absence of the under-fire Granit Xhaka who was omitted from matchday squad over the ongoing row between him and fans after he insulted supporters during last week’s match against Crystal Palace.Image result for granit xhaka
The Switzerland international was forced to issue a public apology last week after he used the F word against fans who booed him as he was getting substituted. He stormed down the tunnel as fans watched in anguish. Arsenal threw away a two-goal lead to settle for a point in the match.
He has missed Arsenal’s last two games and there have been calls for him to replaced as captain with club legend Ian Wright stating that Aubameyang is a better option for a skipper.
Quizzed on whether he may hand the former Borussia Dortmund man the armband permanently, the Spanish tactician hinted that it could happen as he believes the striker can take the responsibility well.

“It could be. I think he can take that responsibility and today he did that. He is one captain and I think he can take that responsibility. We will analyze the match first, and our situation for the next matches and decide,” he said.
The tactician also spoke of his frustration at dropping points for a second successive game at home after settling for a point against Wolves.
” I am frustrated with the result and also because we lost two very good opportunities at home against two teams who we didn’t win against last season either. But I think the players tried and worked. They did all we spoke about before the game but we lost a very good opportunity after we went 1-0 up, ” he stated.
