More Woes For Uhuru-Raila As Anti-BBI Wagon Gets Reinforcements

Woes facing President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga seem to have taken the turn for the worst in reference to BBI.

Problems seem to be now knocking harder on the door of the project by the two leaders after a section of senators joined the anti-BBI camp.

Leaders from the escarpment region led by Bomet Senator Christopher Langa’t, have given their opinion in regards to the report that that is set to be handed to Uhuru and Raila.

Langa’t in, what sounded as a warning to the two veteran politicians, stated that they would not allow to be pushed to accept an initiative that oppressed them.

The Bomet lawmaker asserted that Kenyans had the freedom to make their own decision.

“If you think that something will be pushed down our throat, I want to tell you this is a democratic country and we are civilized.”

“You will be surprised by the end of the day that the particular BBI will go nowhere,” remarked Langa’t.

The Senator’s comments were echoed by his compatriot, Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei, who urged those advocating for the BBI to take their time to explain the report to Kenyans.

Cherargei insisted that if the BBI is something beneficial to Kenyans, the leaders advocating it should not use force to convince the masses.

Na wale wenzetu, msituskumie sana BBI. Kama ni kitu mzuri, msitumie kifua. Wakenya ni kuwaongelesha pole pole. Sisi kama viongozi tumesema ikifika wakati huo, hawa wananchi wapewe nafasi wasome ndio wafanye uamuzi.(My fellow leaders, don’t force BBI on us. If it is a good thing, don’t use force. Kenyans are people who should be taken step by step. Us as leaders state that when the time comes, the citizens should be given a chance to read it and make their own decision,)” noted the Nandi Senator.

The move by the crop of leaders come days after their colleagues from Mt Kenya, made a similar stand.

Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura together with his Meru ally Mithika Linturi, led a delegation of 40 senators from the region in showing dissatisfaction by the project.

The group, stated that they had demands that needed to be met in order to give the BBI the greenlight.

According to the politicians, they felt as if they were being shut out of the decision process being made by the Jubilee party and ODM party heads.
