Manchester United is reportedly courting Lille and French U21 midfielder, Boubakary Soumare as a replacement for Real Madrid target Paul Pogba.
The 20-year old has been in fine form for the Ligue one side this season in the league and the Uefa Champions League and has attracted the interest from several clubs across Europe. His style of play has been compared to that of his compatriot Paul Pogba.
The central midfielder will be out of contract in the summer and United are said to have sent their scouts to watch the youngster closely with the view of making a move either in January or in the summer. He could be joined by compatriot and fellow PSG graduate, Moussa Dembele who is also a United target.
Pogba, currently on the sidelines with an ankle injury until December tried to force a move to Madrid in the summer and still wants to quit United at the end of the season with Madrid or Juventus said to be his preferred destination.
United are expected to beef up the squad in January after a difficult start of the season where they currently sit 7th in the English Premier League table with 13 points from ten matches.
With Pogba injured, Fred and Nemanja Matic out of form, coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been forced to turn to academy graduates Scot Mctominary and Andreas Pereira to solve his midfield crisis but the huge gap left by the Frenchman has been visible in most matches and the Norwegian tactician will have to beef up the area January if the team is to turn its fortunes around.
