Chaos Rock City Hall As MCAs Clash Over Elachi’s Impeachment Motion

Chaos have once again rocked Nairobi City County Assembly after MCAs clash over a new motion to oust embattled Speaker Beatrice Elachi.

The commotion begun after the rival Jubilee MCAs who make up the majority side of the house, addressed a press conference outside the assembly disclosing that they had prepared the ouster motion and were ready to table it during the afternoon session.

The group which was Led by Riruta Ward MCA James Kariuki and Nairobi South Ward rep Esther Chege declared that they would hinder proceedings at the House as long as Elachi was allowed to head the house.

However, it is reported that the group supporting Elachi stormed the other group’s press conference hurling objects at them before physically dragging them out of the area.

The Guyo-led faction maintained that the impeachment motion was still on.

The assembly had been on a two-week break since its indefinite adjournment by Speaker Elachi following the chaos earlier witnessed at the precincts when Ms. Elachi made her long-awaited return on October 9.
The speaker had adjourned the sittings in order for normalcy to return by giving the time away for members to find ways of sorting out existing differences and chart a way forward before allowing for the sittings to resume.
