Silverstone Air has made headlines for all the wrong reasons again! Just a day after the local carrier had one of its aircraft damage another plane at the Wilson Airstrip, it had one of its passenger plane forced to make an emergency landing at Eldoret Airport.
This was after it lost one wheel during take off take-off at Lodwar Airstrip.
Silverstone has confirmed the incident even as calls for the airline to streamline its operations keep growing.
“We Would like to Confirm that earlier today our flight Dash 8 – 300 from Lodwar to Nairobi experienced an incident during takeoff and as a result, lost the number three wheel assembly,” Read a Statement by Silverstone.
“The Captain of the Flight decided to divert to Eldoret International Airport in the interests of the continued safety of the passengers and the crew. This was a precautionary action and the aircraft landed safely.”
The Airline has revealed that it activated its contingency plans and with that, the customers affected were rebooked and they landed safely in Nairobi.

On Sunday Morning, a Silverstone aircraft of registration 5Y SMT Fooker 50 is reported to have hit an East African Air Plane 5Y SSB Kingair at the Wilson Airport.
Reports indicate that the plane didn’t stop for a check but proceeded with its journey.
A month ago, a Silverstone plane, flight 5Y-IZO crashed on the runway at Wilson Airport shortly after take-off to Lamu.
The plane had 5 crew members and 50 passengers on board, two of who were injured during the crash.
The recent incidences have led to a number of Kenyans online questioning whether Silverstone’s Aircrafts are safe to fly. Some have called on the Airlines management to act fast on the recent incidences as many Kenyans were beginning grow rigid on flying the airline.
The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority has also been urged to act with speed so as to prevent any looming disaster. Some Kenyans have called for the planes at Silverstone to be grounded.
