KPL Week 7: Leopards Sends a Message of Intent as Wazito’s Struggles Continue

The Kenya Premier League entered day 7 over the weekend with seven matches taking place. Gor Mahia continues to lead the table while Chemelil Sugar remains rooted at the bottom of the log.

Below are the four main talking points from week 7 in the Kenyan Premier League.

Same Old story Wazito

This was supposed to be a new dawn for Wazito. After only winning once in six outings the club fired head coach Fred Ambani along with his assistant Stanley Okumbi and replaced them with Melis Medo.

The new manager could inspire his side to a second win of the season against Posta Ranger and if anything, they were lucky not to lose. More changes will probably be needed fo Wazit to scale the heights that their ambitious owner demands.

AFC Leopards send a statement of intent

A Mark Makwatta double was enough to see AFC Leopards edge Sofapaka 2-1 at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. The win propelled Cassa Mbungos side to second on the table having lost just one match this season.

This could be a memorable season for Ingwe.

Tuskers winning run halted

Tusker FC lost by a solitary goal to Ulinzi Stars hereby ending their four matches winning streak. Robert Matano’s side has been impressive but the true measure of their progress so far will be by how they cope with the setback.

Redemption for Sony Sugar

After giving out two consecutive walkovers, Sony Sugar finally resumed league duties and earned a hard-fought point against fellow strugglers Kisumu All-Stars.

With Wazito FC up next this weekend, Sony Sugar has a real chance to show that they really are back!
