Finally, Raila Outlines His Achievements As Kibra MP

Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) party leader Raila Odinga has defended his track record when he was a Member of Parliament(MP) for Lang’ata constituency.

Raila who was campaigning for his candidate Bernard Imran Okoth on Sunday said his tenure established a firm foundation for slum upgrade that gave birth to major development projects in Kibra.

The ODM leader said he fought a number of land grabbers who were stealing people’s land in the constituency.

He added that he fought the issue of tenants increasing rents without due consideration and enabled residents to live peacefully in their rented houses.

” We have a long history with Kibra. When we came here the land was being grabbed here. But I went to Parliament and gave a proposal that brought to an end the tussle of land grabbing,” said ODM leader.

Raila went ahead and revealed how he initiated a slum upgrade programme that was to ensure the Kibra residents acquire clean water, electricity as well as affordable housing.

“I went to Malaysia and Singapore and came up with a plan for upgrading various slums in the country. Kibra marked the pilot phase…

We drew a plan for Kibra that will ensure we construct houses where residents will pay rent and own it later for good…” added Raila.

The ODM leader assured residents that the plan was still on course saying he will ensure Kibra residents benefit from the slum upgrade programme.

The Nasa leader revealed that the plan would have been completed by now were it not for the court injunction that halted its implementation.

Additionally, the ODM leader slammed the Jubilee party candidate’s manifesto terming it ‘rubbish’.
