Sabina Chege to Vie for Murang’a Top Seat

Murang’ a Woman Representative Sabina Chege has declared her intentions to vie for the Murang’ a Governor’s seat come 2022.

Sabina made the declaration during the Team Embrace Kenya tour to Mwingi, Kitui County on Friday, where women leaders affiliated to the outfit preached peace and unity.

“God willing, I will vie for the Murang’ a Governor’s seat,” Sabina said adding that she has gained a lot of experience since she was first elected to Parliament in 2013.

She is currently serving her second term as Woman Representative for Murang’a County and should she be successful, Sabina will replace governor Mwangi wa Iria who is serving his last term.

In Kitui, Sabina also took a swipe to Mt Kenya MPs who on Thursday said they would only support the BBI if it incorporated views from the region in the proposals. She accused the legislators of turning their backs on President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Homabay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga said the outfit was fully behind the BBI process since they gave their views touching on issues affecting women in the country.

She accused critics of the BBI of failing to present their views to the BBI team as it was going around the country.

“We have seen people come out to say unless their views are in the report, they are not going to support it. They should have presented their views first” Gladys said.

Former Nairobi Woman Representative Rachel Shebesh said the BBI would bring peace to the country. She asked politicians not to fight the report which is yet to come out noting that there will be ample time for Kenyans to deliberate on its findings.

Kitui Woman Representative Dr. Irene Kasalu asked Kenyans to be calm and wait for the report which will be released soon.
