Matiang’i Storms Office, Declares War on Civil Registrars

The Department of Civil Registration received an uninvited guest at their offices on Friday as CS Fred Matiangi was making rounds in his Ministry.

The Ministry of Interior & Coordination of National Government  Cabinet Secretary was agitated by the negligence by the civil registration officials who deny citizens services.

Matiangi cautioned the immigration officials against laxity in their work. He also warned them against giving conditions in their service delivery.

He vowed not to spare any members of staff who does not give rightful services to citizen.

The CS highlighted the rot in the Civil registration department where officials demand monetary favor in order to provide services to citizens.

“Just give us 72 hours, you will see change in this, no official is goin home until we recognize this place. We will get NYS personnel to assist us,” Said Matiangi

The government department has been characterized by long queues and corruption where which denies the less fortunate Citizens rights to get birth and death certificates for their kin.

Kenyans on the long queues raised their concerns to the CS highlighting the misfortunes they face in the arms of the registrars.

The Ministry is set to install new systems at Civil Registration offices to facilitate the smooth issuance of birth certificates to citizens at the ACK Bishop House centre.

In April 2019, the  Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) commenced a monitoring process of the systems, policies, procedures, and practices applied during the issuance of passports, visas and registration of immigrants by the department of immigration.
