A 75-year-old woman was the latest victim of sexual assault and murder in Likuyani Sub County after a three other women were earlier in the month gang-raped and killed under similar circumstances.
Area Chief Simiyu Siakama, said the body of the granny who hails from Namunyiri village in Sinoko Location was discovered last Wednesday morning after unknown assailants reportedly broke into her house through the backdoor before committing heinous act.
He said preliminary investigations into the incident indicated that Truphosa Isebwe who stays alone was sexually assaulted before being strangled to death after she was found with some marks on her neck.
Rose Amokola, a neighbor, who discovered the lifeless body said she alarmed after a passer-by informed her that the door to the victim’s house was wide open early in the morning.
She said Officers from Matunda police station were called in and later moved the body to Kitale Sub County Hospital mortuary for postmortem as they launched further investigations into the heinous act.
Mrs. Isebwe is the fourth victim of rape and murder in Lukuyani within a span of one month.
Other victims include Winter Ganigi, 24, who was raped and killed on the night of October 1, at Mapendo Village in Sango Location whereas Jerusa Obware ,65, together with her 13-year-old niece Melvyn Dindi, were also sexually assaulted before being strangled to death on the night of October 6, at Nzoia Village.
