Monthly periods are the necessary evil all ladies must go through. From when they hit puberty to menopause, the only time women get a break is in case of pregnancy.
These are many years of bleeding and thousands of shillings spent but somehow it unites us.
While our flows and cycles are different and unique for all of us, there are a few awkward moments that all women can relate to.
Here are 8 of them:
1 Sneezing
Sneezing on your period has to be one of the most uncomfortable things you can ever go through. It is almost as if once you start, the floodgates in your reproductive system just open up. Almost feels like the red sea Moses parted in the Bible just caved in in your vagina.
2. Cramps from hell
Almost every woman can relate to the cramps from hell. The weird thing about being on your period and cramping is that you have to carry on with life while you are in pain.
3. Standing up from a meeting
It can be any type of meeting or date. Women on their periods are usually paranoid about spotting or their pads leaking and thus people are usually too cautious when standing up.
4. The false alarm
So many times women rush to the ladies thinking that it is their time of the month only to find out that it is not. This is especially so for those who do not keep a calendar. Digital calendars aren’t as accurate either so paranoia is bound to take over.
5. They always come when you least expect them
While we pride ourselves in knowing our bodies and keeping calendars, the exact timing of the first flow remains unknown. No scientist has managed to be able to track the timing yet.
Quite unsurprisingly, periods decide to surprise us when we least expect them. You could be out having a good time, in your best outfit then boom! We can all relate!

6. Sexy time
Romantic moments with your partner can become very awkward and uncomfortable. It is not a venture for the weak!
7. They make a surprise comeback when you think it’s over
This is one of the most frustrating things that happens to just about everyone. You’ve stuck it out for a good four days and they disappear. Just when you’re celebrating and have no backup pads, they rear their ugly face once more.
8. The Mood Swings
Men can testify to how bad these mood swings can get. It’s like a rollercoaster, one second your happy and dancing the next your crying. Sadly, the only way is through ladies. Soldier on!
