Uproar as Women’s Netball Team Is Left Stranded In CapeTown

Angry Kenyans have today expressed their concern following news that the National Women’s Netball Team is stranded in Cape Town.

In a report shared by media personality Carol Radull; The Women’s Netball Team left Kenya last Thursday night to participate in the Africa Cup Championship in CapeTown.

According to Radull, the government got the team air tickets and visas but did not cover for their accommodation.

β€œOn arrival at their hotel on Friday morning, they were denied entry because “your government has not paid.”

The girls went to the tournament venue; showered in a gym and played their first game later that day on empty stomachs.” She wrote in her post

The Netball team was lucky to get help from a Kenyan who lives in Cape Town after she offered to buy them food and house them as the government plans on settling the bill.

The team is scheduled to travel on Thursday although the lodge owner threatened to retain some passports until the government pays.

In response to the situation, the government requested for three different quotes to show why a particular hotel was selected before clearing the bill.

This is not the first time that Kenyan teams have faced problems while representing the country.

Harambee Starlets (Football), Kenya Lionesses (Rugby) and Malkia Strikers (Rugby) have all suffered in one way or the other yet the government seem not to learn.
