BBI Report Twist Days After Failed Presentation to Uhuru-Raila

Kenyans can heave a sigh of relief following the development made in reference to the BBI report that has been eagerly anticipated.

The team tasked with the initiative on Tuesday made an announcement of the progress made following the slight hitch experienced a week ago of not delivering the document to President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Through a press statement, the group stated that the report was ready after having a closed door meeting.

The organisation explained that the gathering was to make final assessments to the document before handing it over to Uhuru.

The committee however failed to specify the time or day the file will be transferred into Uhuru’s possession.

“The task force has the privilege to inform Kenyans that this important initiative has been completed.”

“The Joint Secretaries have officially communicated to the office of the President that the Building Bridges Initiative Report is ready for a handing over to the H.E the President.”

“They have received word that the event will be scheduled at the first available opportunity.” read a part of the statement.

Press Release on the BBI report

The joint secretaries, Ambassador Martin Kimani and Paul Mwangi, reiterated that the report took into account views of Kenyans from all 47 counties, professional bodies and even elected leaders.

The two asserted that the findings will help strengthen the bond among the citizens as the country advances ahead.

The completion of the report was however contrary to the information given by one of the members of the team.

On Tuesday, John Seii remarked that the finalisation of the report would take an extra week.

The retired army man reassured the public that it would be completed before the month ended.

Seii’s sentiments contradicted those made by Paul a week ago, who reiterated that the work was done.

“We are ready with the document and the presentation will take place on a day that will be decided by Uhuru’s arrangement.” stated Paul.

One of the rumours quashed by the retired major, was that task force advocated for a seven-year, non-renewable term for the president.

In addition, he dismissed claims that the group recommended the reduction of the legislature, Members Of Parliament from 349 to 180.
