Salah Returns for Champions League Clash, But There’s Still a Problem

Liverpool have named their squad for Champions League duel against KRC Genk. Lead striker Mohammed Salah returns in the lineup but it could still be worrying for fans.

Dependables Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joel Matip are set to miss out as they’ve not made it to the 19-man team which departed John Lennon Airport on Tuesday afternoon for Belgium. Alexander-Arnold remains on Merseyside due to a virus, as does Matip, who has a sore knee.

Salah returns after missing Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Manchester United due to an ankle injury suffered after a late challenge from Leicester’s Hamza Choudhury.

This is good news for the Reds’ fans since manager Jurgen Klopp had previously said there was “no chance” Salah could feature, and had cast doubt over his availability for Wednesday night.

After a win and a defeat in Group E so far, Jürgen Klopp’s side face the Belgian title-holders away from home in the first of back-to-back meetings between the clubs.

Liverpool trained at Melwood on Tuesday afternoon before flying to Belgium for the Genk clash.

Liverpool squad: Alisson, Fabinho, Van Dijk, Wijnaldum, Lovren, Milner, Keita, Firmino, Mane, Salah, Gomez, Adrian, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana, Brewster, Robertson, Origi, Kelleher.
