Decorated world marathoner Eliud Kipchoge has written a demand letter to NRG Radio, through KTK advocates, accusing it of violating his brand rights, invasion of privacy, breach of copyright and breach of trademark rights.

City Lawyer Donald Kipkorir posted the letter certified urgent on his Twitter handle following a week-long online marketing campaign by the station which even changed its name to Kipchoge’s.

“Without his permission, authority or license, or any colour of right, you changed the name of your station topline on your social media pages and online blogs to Kipchoge.Radio and KipchogeRadio@NRGRadioKenya,” the letter reads.

KTK advocates ordered the radio to expunge his name, images, and references whatsoever in all their platforms.

It also demanded that the station offers an unqualified apology for violation of his rights and misuse of his name, images and reputation.

The law firm further asked for a written response from the radio station confirming compliance with the listed demands, all within two hours.

The law firm stated it would then enter into discussions on monetary compensation for the violations.

“If we do not receive your action and response with two hours of emailing this letter and also by posting us on the undersigned Twitter timeline, we will proceed appropriately to enforce our client’s rights,” the law firm ordered.
