Detectives Recover Knife Used in Priest’s Murder [Photos]

Detectives have recovered a knife believed to have been used in the murder of Catholic Priest Father Michael Maingi Kyengo.

The detectives retrieved the sharp knife from a pit latrine at Gategi Shopping Centre in Mwea-Embu where the main suspect Michael Mutunga had rented two rooms.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigate (DCI) said in a statement that its detective’s also recovered blood-stained clothes belonging to Mutunga which the suspect had tried to wash.

The clothes have been taken to the government chemist for further forensic analysis.

Detectives on Tuesday traced the body of the missing father to a shallow grave in Embu after one of the suspects led them to the scene.

The suspects also withdraw KSh300,000 from the priest’s bank account before killing him.

According to DCI, the main suspect drove the Fr Kyengo’s car from Embu to Kilifi after his murder.

The priest was reportedly waylaid on October 8 while travelling from Tala to Thatha parish in Masinga.
