Popular KTN show host Tony Gachoka has been arrested at Diani Airstrip, Kwale.

Police reports indicated that the the Point Blank host was apprehended for causing disturbance while under the influence after he was barred from boarding a plane.

Msambweni OCPD Nehemiah Bitok who confirmed the matter, disclosed that Gachoka was restricted from getting onto a Silverstone flight destined for Nairobi due to being in possession of alcoholic drinks.

Eyewitnesses revealed that the journalist insisted to travel with the products despite the rules in place at the airstrip.

Further information disclosed that Gachoka got out of hand and even resulted to abusing other passengers.

The former Raila Odinga’s chief of protocol is being detained at Diani police station.

Bitok added that the show host will be arraigned in court on Thursday and charged with causing disturbance and being too drunk.

In 2015, Gachoka was sentenced to six months in prison after failing to pay a Ksh2 million fine.

The political activist together with Citizen TV anchor Jeff Koinange, were arrested and charged after disobeying a court order over discussing matters of a company on TV.

The court order was issued after a complaint was filed by Jimi Wanjigi together with Mr Sani Mbui Wanjigi and Kwacha Group of Companies Limited.

The three had obtained the papers that restricted the two media personalities from making, broadcasting or publishing proclaimed defamatory statements concerning them and the firm.

Through their lawyer Nicholas Nyamai, they argued that the limelight cast by the two had resulted in losses and undermined the court’s power.

Nyamai asserted that his clients demanded a compensation Ksh 60 million.

Gachoka later on narrated that his time at Industrial Area prison was horrible.

“It was horrible. It was full of drug dealers and thugs. It was a very bad experience.”

The activist however denied reports that he had failed to pay the fine and remarked that he chose not to fulfil the requirement.

“It’s not true that I could not afford to pay the Ksh2 million. I refused to pay the fine on principle.”

“I cannot be party to corruption like that” noted Gachoka.

He was however released before serving the six month jail term and only spent a weekend behind bars.
