ODM party chairman John Mbadi has come under heavy criticism from a section of social media users after claiming that the youths should not be crying for board appointment jobs in Kenya.

Speaking on Tuesday evening during an interview with KTN TV reporter, the Suba South MP said youths should not focus their energies so much on Mary Wambui’s nomination saying it was not actually employment.

According to Mbadi, board members only earn allowances and not salaries as many youths might think.

“Board members earn monthly allowances from as low as five thousand Kenyan shillings to around forty thousand and comes to around twenty-eight thousand after tax. That is not something we should push our youths to,” stated Mbadi.

While acknowledging that Mary Wambui was not a competent person to head the National Employment Authority, Mbadi said Kenyan youths should be more productive and instead seek for well-paying opportunities.

“The focus should be on whether Mary Wambui is competent for the job she has been offered. If you ask me, I don’t think she is qualified for it…our youths should be more productive and should not focus too much on board employments,” added Mbadi.

However, Kenyans could hear none of Mbadi’s explanations with many castigating the ODM MP of forgetting about the unemployed youths instead championing for Jubilee’s ‘outdated’ appointments.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who led a number of other social media users in mocking Mbadi wondered how an MP who was supposed to champion for youth’s employment was behaving like an animal (pig).

“The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which. “Animal Farm”, tweeted Murkomen.
