Not much has been heard about Lwam Getachew Bekele since the unexpected death of her husband Fidel Castro Odinga in 2015.
Now the Eritrean beauty is back in the news over an acrimonious property dispute between her and her mother-in-law Ida Odinga.
The property in question is their Karen home, 3 pieces of land, 7 bank accounts and 4 cars that include a Mercedes Benz, a Nissan Sunny, and two Range Rovers.
The origin of their beef according to Bekele was a statement that Ida Odinga recorded with the DCI following the sudden demise of Fidel.
“I believe that the statement she recorded with the DCI following the death of Fidel Castro Odhiambo Odinga informs the 1st objector’s [Ida’s] averments and is the genesis of our differences,” Bekele said as reported by The Star.
Bekele then went on to accuse Mrs Odinga of “unjustifiably and continuously making false, defamatory and/or unkind remarks about her family friends and herself.”
In rejoinder, Ida accused Bekele of leaving her matrimonial home and cutting off all contact with Fidel’s family.
Marriage of Fidel
Before Fidel’s death Gatchew got married to the politician’s son at a low-key ceremony at the Orthodox church, attended by politicians like James Orengo, Betty Murungi and the Eritrean Ambassador to Kenya, Beyene Russom.
