With just 21 days remaining to the upcoming Kibra constituency by-elections, Makadara MP George Aladwa has cautioned the electoral body IEBC against being used to rig the polls.

Speaking on Monday during a campaign trail in Kibra, the ODM MP warned the IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati that they will not allow him to rig them again just the way he did in 2013 and 2013.

“We want to tell Chebukati that we will not allow him to steal our votes the way he did in 2017 and 2017. We will defend our victory this time round,” stated Aladwa.

Aladwa lashed out at Langata MP Nixon Korir claiming he did not win the elections in 2017 but was rather rigged in by the IEBC. He promised that they will deal with him in 2022 after they are done with Mariga.

The vocal legislator also warned the Deputy President William Ruto against disrespecting the region’s kingpin Raila Odinga. According to Aladwa, Raila deserves respect since he initiated the handshake that ensured peace returned to the country after the tension which followed the 2017 General election.

“I want to tell Ruto that he should respect Raila Odinga because Raila is older than him. Ruto has fielded Mariga here in Kibra yet Mariga doesn’t in any way associated with the constituency…his family do not live in Kibra,” remarked Aladwa.

He reiterated that the Luyha community in the constituency was not going to be divided by Jubilee’s money adding that they were going to vote for ODM candidate Imran Okoth.

Aladwa’s comments come at a time Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has been accused of inciting Kibra residents against Jubilee candidate Macdonald Mariga.

Junet, on Sunday, claimed that Kibra people are peaceful but very dangerous when provoked.  The MP threatened that he would lead Kibra Youth to Karen to burn Ruto’s house if he continues bribing the locals.

“Tukiona watu wa Kibra wakiitwa kule Karen tena, sisi tutaenda huko na kuchoma hiyo nyumba kwa sababu hiyo nyumba ni ya wanainchi ( if we see Kibra residents being invited to Karen again, we will go there and burn that house),” remarked Junet.

Junet had also alleged that there were plans by the IEBC to import Presiding Officers from Nandi and Kericho something he warned ODM will not tolerate.
