The Kenyan national football team Harambee Stars fell to a 1-0 loss against Mozambique in a friendly match played at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani.

The Francis Kimanzi’s team started the match on a high pegging the visitors into their own half in the first 15 minutes.

Mozambique, however, grew into the match and were the better team heading into the break.

Harambee Stars play was not at the required level and could not build which left Micheal Olunga isolated upfront.

Kimanzi would then introduced Jesse Were in place of Gor Mahia captain Kenneth Muguna for his first Harambee stars match in over 2 years.

However, Kenya would go behind just minutes later after a mistake from Joseph Okumu gifted Cumbane Kama-komo with the ball just outside the box.

The 21-year-old forward showed great composure to first beat, Okumu, then his center back partner Joash Onyango before coolly lifting the ball over the onrushing Farouk Shikalo and into the net for the opener in the 68th minute.

Harambee Stars almost equaled matters immediately with Micheal Olunga setting up Jesse Were but the Zesco United’s striker’s left-footed shot was miles off target.

Were was again guilty of wasting yet another golden chance when Victor Wanyama’s cross found him unmarked in the box but he shot well over the bar.

Kimanzi then introduced AFC Leopard’s starman Whyvonne Isuza for Cliff Nyakeya with 15 minutes to go.

The last chance to get the equalizer fell to Joseph Okumu but he could not connect with a Lawerence Juma freekick just inches outside the Mozambique goal and the ball triked out for a goal kick.

Mozambique held on to claim the win and condemn Francis Kimanzi to his first loss in his third stint as the Kenyan head coach in only his second match.
