Murkomen Disputes One ‘Record’ Broken By Kipchoge In Vienna

Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen refutes claims that Eliud Kipchoge was the first Kalenjin to hug wife in Public.

Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen has disputed one record claimed to have been broken by greatest ever marathoner, Eliud Kipchoge.

Taking to Twitter on Saturday after Kipchoge beat the INEOS159 challenge by 20 seconds, Murkomen said Kipchoge’s hug to the wife was not a second record broken by the athlete.

“It is absolutely not true that @EliudKipchoge is the first Kalenjin man to hug his wife in public. That record was broken a long time ago!” tweeted Murkomen.

Upon beating the INEOS challenge, Kipchoge was received by his wife in a warm embrace.

His children, daughter and two sons, were also present.

The senator had however, earlier, congratulated the athlete for his historic performance.

“Congratulations @EliudKipchoge and thank you for the inspiration @INEOS15,” he tweeted.

Kipchoge electric earned him a spot in the Guinness Book of Record after finishing the 42 kilometres race at 1:59:40.

The race was sponsored by Jim Ratcliffe, a British mogul owning a chain of businesses including the Nike brand.

His performance has received an outstanding world ovation from leaders, institutions and also his netizens among others.

Deputy President William Ruto was among a host of Kenyan leaders who travelled to Vienna, Austria to cheer the World record-holder.
