Sonko On Spot Over Alleged Plot To Assasinate City Majority Leader

Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko on spot over allegations of an assassination plot.

City Majority Leader Abdi Hassan Guyo has said that his life is in danger.

Speaking during a press conference on Friday, while flanked by Members of County Assembly allied to Jubilee Party, the Majority leader asserted fear over his life.

Guyo claimed that a group of youths allegedly hired by the embattled speaker of Nairobi County Beatrice Elachi had clear instructions to hurt him.

He went ahead to say that if anything bad happens to him the Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko should be held liable.

“I want to state that my life is in danger, and what transpired yesterday was very unfortunate. And the goon who came yesterday there they seem to have had very clear instructions to what they were supposed to do.

The core instruction was to hurt me but I thank God they didn’t hurt me. I want to state here today that if anything happens to me Governor Sonko should be held liable,” said Guyo.

The accusations directed towards the county chief comes barely two days after Governor Sonko wrote to Nairobi speaker Beatrice Elachi to change the leadership in the assembly.

In the letter that was also copied to Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju, Sonko replaced Guyo with Hamza MCA Mark Ndung’u in the Majority Leader position.

Governor Sonko accused Guyo of meddling with the leadership of his county hence making it hard for him to run his government.

Also, On Thursday, Nairobi Speaker, Elachi, engaged in a running battle with a section of MCAs from the county.

Elachi accused Guyo of the violence that ensued claiming that the Majority Leader had told her that he will be dead if she gets back to her office.

However,  Jubilee MCAs have pledged to stand with Guyo urging Governor Sonko to leave the choice of the leadership of the County Assembly upon them.
