The family of Mariam Kighenda can finally take a sigh of relief after the vehicle that plunged into the Indian Ocean carrying their loved ones was finally retrieved 13 days after the unfortunate incident.

A Multi-agency team involved in the complex operation were able to remove the vehicle from the deep waters at 4.15 PM on Friday.

The bodies of Mrs Kighenda and her daughter Amanda were in the Vehicle with registration number KCB 289C but journalists were cautioned against taking pictures that would hurt the family once leaked online.

A crane was used to lift it out of the water.

The Conditions of the bodies is yet to be revealed.

Doctors and Pathologists were however at the scene to handle the bodies and any emergencies that may arise.

Mr. John Wambua the deceased husband was at the scene to witness her wife and daughter journey from the deep waters.

Following the recovery exercise, the Kenya Navy was accorded a chance to conduct a brief ‘Military Service’

The family was also allowed to hold a prayer service at the scene.

The Family was thankful to God despite the fact that the recovery operation took longer than expected.

“As a family we have waited for a long time that we did not expect. We are grateful to God that at least we got to see the remains of our daughter,” Said a Family Representative.
