Arsenal Star, Liverpool Boss Win September Accolades

Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp have been named Premier League player and manager for September respectively.

Klopp ensured his side maintained their flawless start to the topflight campaigns by presiding over victories against Newcastle United, Chelsea and Sheffield United.

In clinching September edition, the German saw off competition from Eddie Howe (Bournemouth), Frank Lampard (Chelsea) and Brendan Rodgers (Leicester City).

Klopp has now won the Premier League manager of the month award on five occasions, having also taken it in September 2016, December 2018 and March 2019 in addition to this season’s two accolades.

On his part, Aubameyang, 30, scored five goals in four league appearances for the Gunners last month, including a late free-kick to win against Aston Villa.

He netted a brace in a 2-2 draw against Watford and equalisers against Tottenham and Manchester United.

The Gabon striker beat Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kevin de Bruyne, Son Heung-min and Riyad Mahrez to the award.
