Deputy William Ruto will head to Vienna on Thursday Night to cheer Eliud Kipchoge as he runs the historical INEOS 1:59 challenge on Saturday 12 October.

“DP William Ruto heads to Vienna tonight to support and cheer Eliud Kipchoge as he runs the historical INEOS 1:59 challenge,” State House Digital Director Dennis Itumbi said.

Patrick Sang, Eliud Kipchoge’s coach, who flew with the athlete to Vienna had appealed for a huge crowd to show up and show support’.

“One element that is very important for Eliud is the crowd. So please, come and support Eliud on 12th October and cheer him on to help him make history”.

In the historic attempt, Kipchoge seeks to become the first person ever to run a marathon in under two hours.

Kipchoge arrived in Vienna on 8th October, having flown from his training camp in Kaptagat in Kenya and has been acclimatising to Vienna and training.

The decorated marathoner said he is participating in the race to prove that humans have no limit.

“I want to show the world that No Human Is Limited. I hope that I can inspire people around the world to not think in limitations and prove that you can do anything, once you believe in yourself and you prepare well” he said.

The INEOS 1:59 Challenge will be streamed live by YouTube on the INEOS 1:59 Challenge page.

Local TV stations will also televise the historic race.
