This Is the Easiest Pilau Recipe Ever

In this day and age where everybody has joined the rat race, many people don’t have time for an elaborate meal that will take hours and require lots of ingredients, so there is an increased demand for fuss-free meals.

While takeout is the go-to option for many people it’s neither the healthiest nor the cheapest option so cooking is unavoidable if you want to survive in Nairobi.

Today, thanks to Pika Chakula we bring you a ridiculously tasty and easy to make Pilau meal that doesn’t require special equipment and takes about an hour to make.

Ingredients needed

  • Oil
  • 300gms mutton
  • Water
  • Salt
  • Whole spices
  • 2 green chillies
  • ½ an onion
  • 2 Inches of Ginger
  • 4 Cloves of Garlic
  • 1tsp Tomato paste

Method

  • Put all the ingredients in a sufuria and simmer for 45-60 mins.
  • Scoop out the meat, then sieve and save the broth for later use.
  • In a pan fry 1 teaspoonful of cumin seeds, add chopped onion and cook until browned.
  • Add 2 cups of the saved broth into the pan then add 1 cup of rice.
  • Simmer for 12-15 mins.
  • Serve and enjoy.
