I Knew he Was Ready, Chelsea Captain Praises Young Striker

Image result for tammy abrahamChelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta has hailed striker Tammy Abraham for his goal-scoring exploits stating that he had confidence in the young forward before the new season started.

Abraham has scored eight league goals this team and is joint top in the scorers’ chat with Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero. His good form has earned him a call-up to England senior team ahead of forthcoming international assignments against the Czech Republic and Bulgaria.

His rapid rise has taken many by surprise but the Spanish defender is not among those shocked. The right-back said he believed the forward would perform for the Blues having watched him move up the age categories.

“I had confidence in him because I have known him since he was quite young Every time I saw him his work ethic was very good. Last season he had an amazing spell at Aston Villa, he was a key player for them, he scored a lot of goals,” he said.

Cesar backed the youngster to produce more good performances adding that he will bring more happiness to the team in the future.

“I knew he was ready for us, and for the Premier League. As soon as he arrived he worked hard and wanted to help the team. Strikers live for goals so it’s great for him. He’s doing incredibly well and he scored an amazing goal. I’m very happy for him and I’m sure he can give us a lot more happiness in the future.’
