Arsenal center back Rob Holding has only just returned from a career-threatening knee injury suffered last December during Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The injury saw the English defender miss nine months of football and Arsenal crumbled without him. The Gunners missed out on a tiop four finish last season and lost the Europa League final 4-1 to London rivals Chelsea thereby condemning them to another season in the Europa League.
In an interview, Holding revealed how Brazilian defender David Luiz texted him immediately after he suffered his injury assuring him that he will be alright. It came as a surprise for Holding as David Luiz was a Chelsea player at the time.
“He just said that it happens and that I’ve got a great career ahead of me. He told me that I just need to focus and I’ll be all good, so I felt if he was doing that for me why I can’t I do that for someone else, because it may give them a little boost, Holding said of the Luiz text.
The defender revealed that he is now match fit and is eager to make his mark in the English Premier League.
“When you go through an injury like that and you’re out for nine or 10 months, football and rivalry is put aside and you’re just getting behind each other. But I’m ready whenever the boss needs me now, so we’ll see what happens.”
Arsenal play on Sunday in the league against AFC Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium.
