Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia moved back to the top of the League table with an edgy 1-0 Victory over Zoo Kericho at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru. Steven Pollcak’s side has now won all four league games they have played in this season.

In a cagey affair, Zoo Kericho defended with vigor plus character and it looked like they would be rewarded with a point until Boniface Omondi struck with nine minutes to go. The result leaves Zoo Kericho deep in relegation trouble with just 3 points and is 16th on the log, just 3 points better than bottom-placed Chemelil.

Gor Mahia, on the other hand, will go into the international break pretty at the top with a game against Chemelil Sugar to spare.

Meanwhile, Sofapaka ended Bandari’s unbeaten start to the league with a hard-fought 2-1 victory at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. Cercidy Okeyo opened the scoring for Batoto Ba Mungu in the fifth minute before William Wadri leveled matters for Bernard Mwalala’s side in the 58th minute.

The match looked destined for a draw but Sofapaka’s Brian Nyakan sunk Bandari’s hearts with a well-taken finish three minutes to the end of normal time. The play had to be halted for close to five minutes following a scuffle after Bandari striker Wycliffe Ochomo’s late goal was ruled offside by the referee.

Despite the drama, Sofapaka held on to record only their second win of the season and move up to 8th on the log with seven points. Bandari drops to 6th with 8 points.
