AFC Leopards could reap three free points from their Kenyan Premier League match which was scheduled to be played against Sony Sugar at Awendo Green Stadium.

The match, whose kick-off time was set for 1 pm on Saturday, October 5, was never played because the hosts never showed up at all. They never showed up even for a mandatory pre-match meeting which was to happen at 11 am.

AFC Leopards, who had travelled from Nairobi to Nyanza, have announced that the match has since been cancelled and narrated how they were mishandled before 1 pm.

“At 1100hrs, the hosts Sony Sugar FC fail to honour the mandatory pre-match meeting ahead of our KPL match against them. At 1200hrs, we are barred from accessing the stadium. At 1328hrs, the hosts (Sony Sugar FC) still haven’t availed themselves,” AFC Leopards updated.

About 14:30 pm, the visiting club announced that they are now waiting for Kenyan Premier League verdict over the same. By FIFA rule, two goals and three points are awarded when a team dishes walkover.

“The match wasn’t played as our opponents -the hosts Sony Sugar FC never showed up. We’ll wait for the final verdict from KPL,” Ingwe updated.

If the local league managers award Ingwe the points, the Andre Casa Mbungo-coached side would take their points tally to ten (10) on the table.

Here is the squad which had been named by AFC Leopards for the match;

Starting XI: Ochan Benjamin, Sikhayi Dennis, Kipyegon Isaac, Kayumba Soter, Mudenyu Robert, Ndikumana Tresor, Senaji Clyde, Isuzza Whyvonne, Mukangula Eugene, Mukhekhe Bonface, Makwata John.

Subs: Owade Ezekiel, Shivachi Collins, Shichenje Collins, Saad Mousa, Tsuma Said, Wanda John, Marita Brian.
