Manchester United Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has heaped praise on youngster Brandon Williams after his inspiring full debut display in the UEFA Europa League against Dutch side, Az Alkmaar on Thursday night.
The United academy product made his full debut for the club on Thursday, a chance he earned after a near-perfect performance on his debut a week ago in the Carabo Cup where featured for 45 minutes against League One Rochdale.
The 19-year old left-back was impressive against the Dutch side, defending solidly and aiding United attacks on the left-wing. He had 89 touches of the ball- the most of any United and many were impressed with his performance picking him as the positive in what was rather a dull show for the English giants.
His manager too was impressed by the Englishman’s show. In his post-match interview lavished praise on the youngster terming his performance the best for a debuting full-back. He also backed him to improve noting that he has the right mentality to become even better.
‘You won’t see a better full debut from a full back anywhere. The boy is just going to improve and improve. He’s got the right mentality. I’m very pleased for him,” Ole Gunnar said after the match.
Unite fans on social media were equally impressed with his output.
One of the worst games I have ever watched. #MUFC absolute shit. Only players that shouldn't be ashamed are Brandon Williams and Victor Lindelof. Zero goal scoring threat at all.

Tbf, Alkamar was probably the best team we’ve played all year. AM9 is our best forward, and Pogba our “best” MF were not in the team. We desperately need a 10, Fred is not, and will never be the answer to any of our midfield problems and oh yeah Brandon Williams is a stud #mufc

Solskjær on Brandon Williams: "Top class, top performance for a full debut. So happy for him. He’s got no fear, he’s brave, wants the ball, takes people on, tackles, he’s physical. So happy for him."
