Fresh from a historic 3-2 aggregate win over Ben Guerdane in the CAF Confederations Cup qualifiers, Bandari FC shifts focus to the Kenya Premier League with a clash against Posta Rangers on Thursday.
The Dockers are currently unbeaten in the league and sit 7th on the log with 7 points, just two behind leaders Gor Mahia. Bernard Mwalala’s side is increasingly looking like one of the teams to beat this season, especially after their second-place finish in the league last season.
Attacking wise, the team is one of the best in the league and has scored 4 goals while keeping two clean sheets in the process. It will be interesting to see how they fair across the course of a whole season.
Meanwhile, Sammy Omollo’s Posta Rangers are 12th on the log with 4 points from their first three matches. The mailmen lost 1-0 in their last fixture against Western Stima and have not kept a clean sheet all season long.
The lack of clean sheets is something that Sammy Omollo, a league winner with Tusker FC, stressed on prior to the loss to Western Stima.
Interestingly, matches between the two sides often end in barren draws. Four of the last six fixtures have ended 0-0 with Bandari winning the other two 3-1 and 1-0. Last season bandari won their home leg while Posta Rangers forced the league runners up to a barren draw in the second leg.
A win for Bandari would take them top of the table with ten points, one above leaders Gor Mahia. The match will be played at the Mbaraki Stadium in Mombasa and kicks off at 3 PM.
