Precious Talent Victims Blame Uhuru, Raila Over False Promises

President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM party leader Raila Odinga have found themselves on the receiving end after they allegedly failed to honour their donation promises to the victims of Precious Talent School tragedy

While speaking at one of the burials of the deceased on Wednesday, a mourner who was captured on video lamented that the government had failed to deliver on their promise which was delivered by the former prime minister Raila Odinga.

The mourner alleged that President Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila Odinga and Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko had all failed to deliver on their pledges.

He revealed that the Sonko rescue team had promised to clear all the mortuary fees and provide a hearse and a bus but only managed to provide a hearse.

“Raila Odinga promised to give us money when we were at the memorial (Saturday, September 27). He also revealed that he had come with the president’s donation. The county government of Nairobi also promised the same but up to date, we have not received any money,” recalled the mourner.

He further claimed that Deputy President William Ruto was the only leader who had kept his promise of sh800,000 to all the eight affected families.

He also commended Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie whom he said sent some money to compensate for the deficits.

“The family has not been assisted in any way to gather for this funeral as some people would want you to believe. We made our own fundraising to raise money to hire the buses,” added the mourner.

While at the memorial service, Raila had promised a donation of Ksh3 million to benefit families of the victims and pupils affected by the Precious Talent School tragedy.

Part of the three million Raila promised, 1million was his donation to the victims while President Uhuru Kenyatta had given out Ksh1 million towards reconstruction and an additional Ksh1 million for the parents of the victims.
