The County boss ordered the board to conduct a headcount to ensure that the County Government did not pay salaries to non-existent workers.
Noting that feuds were the order of the day in the former CPSB, Kimemia advised the new body to work in unity and uphold integrity.
“It is so unfortunate that the wrangles in the former County Public Service Board led to poor service delivery, we are experiencing shortage of agricultural officers, health officers which the board was entitled to address, I urge you to ensure that all these weaknesses are addressed,” advised the Governor.
He urged the board to address the issue of pending promotions and also confirm those workers who had been occupying their positions in acting capacities.
The chairman Nyandarua County Workers Union Mr. Earnest Macharia noted that some health facilities had been running with one nurse who worked without rest, which was against the labour laws.
The union chair also noted that some casual workers in the County had worked for long without confirmation and some earned less than others despite performing the same duties.
The Leader of Majority in the County Mr. Ednard Kingori also said that the board had undergone vetting from the County Assembly and there was no doubt that the board was up to task.
“I assure you that all the 39 members in the County assembly unanimously approved the board members and they are now expected to give the board a new face. The former board had been affected by favoritism in employment of County workers,” noted King’ori.
The Milangine Deputy County Commissioner Mr. Omari Hassan who represented the Nyandarua County Commissioner, Boaz Cherutich urged the board to be solving any disputes among themselves through consultation with the governor and County Attorney.
The Board members sworn in by Senior Principal Magistrate Harrison Baraza are Chairman William Gatehi and Dr James Ndirangu as the secretary to the board. Other board members are John Maina Mwangi, Gabriel Githinji and Samwel Gatehi. County Attorney Ms. Anne wangechi who was sworn in Tuesday will also be a member of the Board.
The board was asked to immediately advertise internship programmes and vacancies of Chief Officers before proceeding for an induction at Kenya School of Government in Nairobi.
