Another Jubilee party member hit out on the party’s Kibra candidate Macdonald Mariga ahead of the slated by-election.

Kiambu Women Rep Gathoni Wamuchomba during an interview on Citizen TV’s DayBreak show on Tuesday, referred to Mariga as a foreigner in regards to him being in and out of the country on many occasions.

The Kiambu lawmaker further stated that the former Inter midfielder had done nothing for the people of Kibra.

“Mariga is a foreigner, he is in and out of the country.”

“Show us at least one thing he has done for Kibra people.” remarked Muchomba.

Her sentiments were echoed by her counterpart Gladys Wanga, Homa Bay Women Rep, who highlighted that Mariga had never showed the need to participate in the voting exercise in the country.

“What makes me uncomfortable with Mariga’s interest in Kibra MP seat is that he has never felt the need to vote for leaders in Kenya and he now wants people to vote for him.” stated Wanga.

A week ago, former Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi, who is also a member of the ruling party, had endorsed ODM candidate Imran Okoth.

During an interview on the same show, Elachi reiterated that the move by Jubilee to field a candidate was an attempt to hinder the achievements made by the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth.

“My values don’t allow me to support Mariga in Kibra. ” noted Elachi.

The tough talking Elachi added that the ruling party never supported her when she vied for the Dagoretti North parliamentary seat in 2017.

Fatuma Gedi, Wajir Women Rep, who is a jubilee politician, had also questioned the ex-Harambee Stars captain choice to run for the seat when he was not a registered voter in Kibra.

“He can’t even express himself.” asserted Gedi.
