Wazito FC got their maiden win of the new Kenya Premier League campaign with a hard-fought 2-0 win over Zoo Kericho at the Kericho Green Stadium.

Having failed to win in their first 3 matches nor score a goal from open play, the pressure was mounting on Wazito FC to translate their strong showing in the transfer market into wins on the pitch. A cagey first half affair ended goalless but there were enough signs that Fred Ambani’s side was hungry and determined to get the win.

Derrick Onyango beat his man on the right flank before squaring the ball to the impressive Eric Ndinya who calmly placed the ball past the reach of Zoo Kericho’s goalkeeper for the opener in the 56th minute. Ndinya almost made it two five minutes later but his fierce drive rattled the crossbar from just outside the box.

Elvis Rupia replaced Derrick Onyango and the former Nzoia Sugar man made an immediate impact when he slotted the ball home from close range just a minute after coming on to make sure of the win for Wazito.
