Gor Mahia head coach Steven Polack has named a slim squad for their return leg Caf Champions league match against Algerian side USM Alger. The match is set to be played at Moi International Sports Centre Kaarani as from 4:15pm.

Instead of 18 players, the coach has named only 15 for the high-octane battle which they must win by at least 3-0 in order to advance to the next stage.

Polack had indicated that K’Ogalo would not have all players due to injuries and sickness that rocked the club ahead of the match. However, he explained that their main aim was to win. “It is going to be a hard game but I believe in my players that come 6 pm, by God’s grace, we will be in Caf Champions League group stage.

“We have a few injuries, for instance, Samuel Onyango is sick so he cannot play. That actually means that we have 15 players instead of 16, but all in all, football is about 11 players so we believe we can still get a good performance,” he said

Fredrick Odhiambo will be between the posts as Wellington Ochieng and Joash Onyango protect him from shots. Captain Kenneth Muguna will be alert in the midfield as Nicholas Kipkirui looks for goals.

Starting XI: 1. Fredrick Odhiambo (GK), 2. Wellington Ochieng, 3. Geoffrey Ochieng, 4. Maurice Ojwang, 5. Joash Onyango, 6. Tobias Otieno, 7. Lawrence Juma, 8. Kenneth Muguna (C), 9. Boniface Omondi, 10. Nicholas Kipkirui, 11. Dickson Ambundo.

Subs: David Mapigano, Joachim Oluoch, Charles Momanyi, Ernest Wendo.
