Theft Gang Caught Ransacking Church Offices

A group of eight armed robbers on Wednesday broke into SDA Church Western regional headquarters in Kanyakwar area, Kisumu.

A fierce fight ensued between the armed robbers and the Falcon security guards on duty, who managed to repulse the armed gang.

One of the gang members that was injured during the confrontation was rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Referal Hospital in a critical condition. Another member was taken to the facility but is in a stable condition.

A mob lynched one of the 8 members after the security guards had called for their attention.

He was later taken to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Referal Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and identification.

The thugs had been caught ransacking the church offices in attempts to steal. Their attempts did not bear fruits as they did not manage to steal any item.

In another incident, suspected thieves were subjected to mob justice after being accused of stealing chicken.

Members of the public rained on the suspects established that the group was responsible for chicken theft at Norah Ochieng’s home.

One of the suspects suffered extreme injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at Coptic Hospital.

Police officers came to the rescue of the other suspect and rushed him to Coptic hospital for medical attention.

They were able to recover five chickens and took the deceased to mortuary pending a post mortem and further investigations.

Elsewhere, a group of four thieves broke into a hotel in Kisumu East and made away with Ksh 359,000 cash.

The suspects are said to have cornered the watchman, pointing a gun on him and tied him with ropes. The thieves managed to get their way inside the premise by cutting the office padlock.

They later escaped to an unknown destination leaving no injuries to the Watchman.
