Taxi Driver Loses Car to Thieves Posing as Customers

A taxi driver has lost his car to thieves who posed as customers.

Brian Musimi a taxi driver operating at Voi reported to at Loitoktok Police Station that on Sunday he was approached by a male passenger who wanted to be taken to Loitoktok mortuary to collect a dead body to Tharaka, in Tharaka Nithi County.

He said the customer also informed him that he was in the company of the other two people.

The driver said in the report that he agreed to carry them at a cost of Ksh 20,000 and was given a deposit of Ksh 5,000 which he used to fuel the vehicle.

He recounted that they left Voi at round 1500 hrs towards Loitoktok using motor vehicle registration number KCV 715S make Toyota Noah.

“On reaching Simba Cement area at around 2000 hrs, one of the occupants said he wanted to go for a call of nature, they stopped and alighted but the other two who were at the back seats removed pistols and commanded him to hand over the motor vehicle” he narrated.

He added that was tied and placed in between the front and back seat while the other one took control of the motor vehicle.

“We drove towards Loitoktok and on reaching Loitoktok forest at Kilombero area they tied him on a tree and robbed him off cash Ksh 19,800, national identification card, cooperative bank ATM card, NSSF card, NHIF card and a mobile phone,” he said.

Police said that the suspect was rescued by a bodaboda operator who moved him around to see if he could find the motor vehicle before proceeding to report the matter to authorities.

The suspects are still at large.
